Permalinks May 11th 2006
Still working this out
When adding a new page to your blog, the page id in your browsers location bar will be reperesented by a url structure defined by the word press programme.
After logging in to your account you will arrive at your dashboard, click on menu options, and then sub menu permalinks, you will arrive at this screen.
I had added the page 'about', but it was displaying as 'http://www.oikofugic.com/blog/?p=123', which is the word press structre permalink default setting, see above. To control what you see, and make your page and post titles appear as you specify page or post title you need to alter the options setting to custom.
Click name and date based and the custom feild will display, Below
Delete year, monthnum and day, in the custom box to leave just postname. Below
When adding a new page after customizing your permalink structure add the name you want your page or post to be called in the post slug. (right hand side of screen) this will give you the url style you desire, providing of course you have your file permissions set correctly.
At this point fill out the optional box which gives a prefix for your catorgories, Below
you can name this anything. I used catts, and this will preceed whatever you call your categries in the slug,
as mentioned above. I'm not sure if this is fully correct, but it seems to work, and I'm happy.
