Learning Word Press

Back on the Word Press Wagon March19th 2006

A month down the line, I have left word press on the back burner, untill the last couple of days. So where are we at?
Played around with the default themes, when i first installed the programme. I think I decided at that point to create my own from scratch, and cut the php scripts into the relavent sections of the built pages.

I also discovered at the same time that wasn't going to be as straight forward as I thought.

Enter the Blix theme

Blix Layout

I chose this layout for a couple of reasons:

1.The horizontal navigation

The navigation is similar to the one used in these pages which I think will make the transition easier, and a consistant look across sites.
I havn't yet decided on the way forward to be honest, but integration is a necessity.

2.The contact form

I noticed when looking for a suitable theme to begin my PHP initiation that the Blix theme came with a contact form in the downloadable componants. This is a major advantage at this point in my development. To have scripts that work without the need of manipulation is quite appealing. Since the creation of this site having a reliable secure contact form has been one of my major problems.

Word Press re-visited Aug 22nd 2006

Things never go according to plan, at least when I schedule them. It has been a while since I dabbled with the old blogging platform, and I am posting this today because I feel I have made a decent breakthrough.

I have a working modified theme, Oikofugic Design not finished by a long stretch, but starting to comply with my expectations. It has been quite a journey, which might have been easier had I more time to devote to the understanding of the infrastructure and interaction of the php within the XHTML.

I'm sure I'm still going about creating my own theme in a completely bizzare fashion, and still can't get the visual rich editor to work. I have never-the-less begun to feel comfortable within the various page templates.

It has been a fresh start, as I was getting nowhere and felt a clean slate would help. So I downloaded the latest version of Firefox

and the most recent version of wordpress, and after all this time and reading things suddenly seem to have fallen into place.
