More about themes August27th 2006
As you know if you have been reading these pages, the blix theme was my drawing board, and I think a very nice and comprehensive theme it is.
I managed after some time and much digression to modify the:
Index.php
header.php
sidebar.php
footer.php
So my wordpress blog endevour now looks as it should, I havn't as yet tackled the other templates, which are responsible for the various design aspects of the site.
Why You may ask
Well, a long and complicated scenario, and my obsession with getting things right, even if my technical know how is fighting against these attempts.
I noticed alomg the way, as I was disecting the templates that Blix was using a functions.php
not sure at this point what this is all about, but I gather it is a focal command center and should not be dabbled with
by an amature such as myself.
Not good enough I say to me as I need to understand how it all works.
Why can't I just blog, and forget about the incidentals?...
Just can't, so I'm now looking to modify the classic theme, or indeed the default theme that comes with the wordpress instillation.
Problem is
Neither of these themes has the features that I would like to include in my version, so it's going to be an amalgamation, and in this way I hope to futher increase my understanding of php and integrated design in general..It's going to be fun.
If you are looking to get started, I found this site the other day, nice and concise. Urban Giraffe
